BOOK PROMOS
Who is George Ripley?
In Murder by Half, Providence Police Department's Major Crimes Unit is comprised of four detective squads. Detective Sergeant Nathan Press, the book's main character, is the Squad 3 sergeant. As part of his duties, he supervises three detectives: Josh Killian, Gabriela Ibarra, and Laith "Tank" Meredith. My friend George Ripley is the inspiration behind the Det. Laith Meredith character.
I've worked with George on a number of cases over the years. He was (and still is) a tenacious, savvy investigator. Anytime I'd pop into his PD to compare notes on a case or do a joint interview of a suspect or witness, he'd dazzle me with a new magic trick. And you'd be amazed at how a simple magic trick could knock down barriers in an interrogation room.
George's unique style, delivery, and sense of humor always left me wanting more. Laughter is survival for cops, and he made me laugh a lot, still does. Despite all the work and stress that come with the job or maybe because of it, George created his own side hustle doing magic and has since assembled an impressive curriculum vitae that includes live performances and a fun social media presence.
George has since retired from the police force and is now using his detective knowledge and experience to catch fraudsters and thieves as an insurance investigator. All while his magic-performing/social-media business continues to grow. To see much more of George and his fun, mind-bending magic, check out his social media accounts. I've provided his links below.
